One day on from the TurtleRun prototype

It's been one day since uploading the first prototype of TurtleRun and I've received some helpful feedback from friends on a few tweaks that would make the game more enjoyable.

The highlight so far has been watching my girlfriend play through the game on her computer and share her thoughts with me. We had a lot of laughs and it was definitely a moment to remember.

The plan moving forward is to iron out a few of the smaller things and then to start creating a proper level system with gradually increasing difficulty, rather than just bundling a little bit of everything into one level like the proto-type has. Also look forward to some boss fights in the near future, which I'm really excited about figuring out and coding.

Big thanks to everyone who has downloaded or played in browser, I am committed to improving all aspects of the game over time and one day will have something fully fledged that I can be proud of.

The below list of changes have been applied to the latest version that is now uploaded. I welcome your feedback so feel free to comment on the page and let me know what you'd like to see in future iterations of the game.

  • Changed Content
    • Changed enemy shooting mechanics to now shoot immediately if facing the player, rather than their cooldown to shoot timer starting to tick when facing the player
    • Removed the pacifist mode that was active before equipping eggs, allowing enemies to kill the player from the start of the game.
    • Added marker to advise the player on progressing through end screen text
    • Re-arranged HUD to keep everything all in one zone
  • Bug Fixes
    • Changed position of collectable items so the player can no longer walk under them without collecting
